An unexpected visitor

I had an unexpected visitor come through the doors today. An elderly gentleman walked into my office and said, “I’m not here to take up your time, but I just want you to know something. I want to tell you how much I enjoy the music from your church that I hear every morning. When the wind is right, I can hear it perfectly and I just don’t have the words to tell you how much it means to me.”

Sometimes we are ministering without even knowing it – and sometimes the things that we take for granted are significant events in the lives of those around us!

We stand as living witnesses to our faith. That means that every little insignificant thing that we do truly can stand as a significant act to others who may be watching. What are we telling them about what it means to be a Christian?

I believe that our carillons mark God’s time with great beauty. They bring to mind the great hymns of our faith, leaving a song on our lips. They mark the presence of the Church in the community as a lighthouse in a sea of despair.

Those of us who hear them every day take them so much for granted. Let’s all pray for an increased awareness of the beauty and wonder around us and a willingness to minister to others in the name of Jesus – constantly and passionately.

Shepherds Ministry

The Shepherds Ministry needs volunteers who are willing to share God’s love with others. We only ask that you make one contact with your “sheep” each month.
A contact can be sending a card, making a phone call, visiting the person or having a conversation wherever you see each other. If you are interested in serving God through this ministry, please contact the church office(475-1124).

Food Pantry Needs

The PG Food Pantry needs your help with more food This past week we helped many families. The pantry is in of food or donations to buy food. The number of people we served this past week depleted a big portion of our supplies. Breakfast items such as pancake syrup, cereals, peanut butter and jelly are especially needed.

School will be starting soon and the parents we see will struggle to buy school supplies for their children. Pens, pencils, notebook paper, notebooks and any other school items will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your help and support of this ministry.

Join the Choir

When the book of Acts (see 16:25-26) reports that Paul and Silas sang in the Philippian jail at midnight, it doesn’t record whether they were basses or tenors. It doesn’t even report if they sang on key. It simply says they sang. And as they sang, there was an earthquake and the prison doors were opened.

Many of life’s doors open more easily when we sing. So why not open some doors by joining the choir? The Choir is beginning to practice for our Christmas Cantata and we would love to have you join us. If you have any questions, please see Betsy McMullan or anyone in the choir.

Handbell Choir Needs You

The Handbell Choir plans to begin practice soon. We are in need of new Ringers. You do not have to be able to read music to become a Ringer. If you would like to be in the Choir please contact Petra Halker for more information. We will be practicing on Wednesday evenings at 6:00pm. Please help us so the bells can ring again during our worship service.
