Lexington District Confirmation 2010


Confirmation is such a vital part in the life of the church. This year the Lexington District will be offering Confirmation classes in three areas of the District beginning in February. 

DATES:   Sunday February 7, 21 & March 7, 21, 2010
TIME: 3:00-5:00pm
LOCATIONS:

  • Liberty UMC – 141 Liberty Circle Mocksville
  • Trinity UMC – 130 Maplewood Ave Thomasville
  • Central UMC – 276 W. 1st St. Denton
  • Lexington District Office  – 507 E. Center St Lexington

The “Claim the Name” curriculum will be used as the basis of these four sessions that will be taught by Clergy, Christian Educators and Youth Directors in each area. Included will be options for Clergy, Congregation and Parent participation at the local church level.

Confirmands will attend the Bishops Confirmation Celebration March 20th or 27th.

This is a great opportunity for area youth to journey together as they go through confirmation and learn what it is to be part of the Body of Christ.

Session 1 – What’s Confirmation all about?  God, Jesus & the Holy Spirit (Feb. 7, 2010)

Session 2 –  Jewish History Overview (Feb. 14, 2010) at Pleasant Grove UMC

Session 3 –  Heritage, UM Beliefs,  UM Connection (Feb. 21, 2010)

Session 4 –  What is Worship? (Feb. 28, 2010) at Pleasant Grove UMC

Session 5– Worship: liturgical calendar, Communion, Baptism, God’s Word, Prayer (March 7, 2010)

Session 6 – The Bible: A tool of Faith. (March 14, 2010) at Pleasant Grove UMC

Session7 – Gifts & Service (March 21, 2010)

Session 8 – Who is the Holy Spirit? (March 28, 2010) at Pleasant Grove UMC

If you have a young person that is from the age of 10 to 14 that would like to explore “what it means to be a Christian and to join the church. Please contact Pastor Keys or Jamie Johnston by Jan. 31, 2010 to enroll your young person in this confirmation class.
