New Pastor Appointed To Pleasant Grove UMC

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Rev. Karen Harris Smith to our church, effective July 1.  Rev. Smith comes to us from the Tabernacle Charge in Davidson County, serving Tabernacle, Pleasant Grove, and Piney Grove United Methodist Churches.  Rev. Smith earned her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Public Administration degrees from the University of North Carolina – Greensboro, working with the Greensboro Public Schools after graduation.  Additionally, she has earned her Master’s in Divinity from Duke University, joining the Western North Carolina Conference in 1999 and becoming an elder in full connection in 2001.  In addition to the Tabernacle Charge, she has previously served as the pastor at Lowe’s United Methodist Church, Reidsville, NC.  Rev. Smith has two children, Jimmy and Jesse.  Please join us in welcoming Rev. Smith to our church at her first service on July 4!!
