Pleasant Grove Pickleball provides fellowship and exercise for members of the church and our local community in Thomasville.
PICKLEBALL is a new Recreation Ministry of Pleasant Grove UMC. This fun sport provides exercise and opportunities for people to develop new relationships, grow friendships and strengthen one another in life and faith.
The game is somewhat like tennis but played on a court one-third the size of a tennis court. The ball looks like a whiffle ball and is hit with a paddle not a racket.
The rules of the game are such that it is more a game of finesse and strategy than power. For example, the ball must be served underhand and must bounce on both sides before it can be volleyed.
The game is very popular with seniors but is easily played and enjoyed by younger people. Pickleball can be learned in less than 15 minutes and can be played by all ages. Free lessons, paddles, and balls are provided. Pickleball at Pleasant Grove is played indoors and good tennis shoes are all that is needed.
We meet in the Kennedy Christian Life Center on Monday and Friday mornings at 10:00 am and Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 6:30pm. If you have any questions, contact the church office.
