Our UMW annual Fund Raiser Painting Classes have been postponed from April to early August. The new dates are Tuesday August 11 at 10:00 am and Saturday August 15 at noon. You will be hearing more about the classes later in the year. We are so sorry for this change in dates.
Our Father who art in Heaven. Hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil, for Thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory forever and ever.
Let’s all pray together. The power of prayer is amazing!
I pray that all my family and friends are kept safe in these very scary times. Also watch over health care workers as they work tirelessly to protect their patients. AMEN
Western North Carolina Conference
April 12, 2020
Bishop Leeland and the Western North Carolina Cabinet are preparing an Easter worship video for our conference. Many of you are finding wonderful ways to connect with your church communities online and we celebrate that! However, if North Carolina’s restrictions on gathering are impacting your worship planning, use this worship video as a resource for celebrating Easter together. Bishop Leeland will share an Easter message and our District Superintendents will lead us in worship. The link will be sent to clergy on Saturday, April 11 and posted on the Conference website and Facebook page on Easter morning for your use.
The decision to suspend all in-person worship and gatherings is an effort to assist in halting the spread of the Corona virus (COVID-19). This change certainly creates a new set of challenges for all of us. Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic we have suspended all face to face services and events at Pleasant Grove UMC. As difficult as it is to suspend in-person worship and to practice social distancing, it is necessary to do so to protect the larger community and therefore save lives. Thank you for understanding. We can still be reached by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or during the week at 336- 475-1124.
We have a lot of fun and fellowship at Pleasant Grove playing the widely popular game for all ages – Pickleball. We have all of the equipment that you need to play and friends to help you learn the rules. We play on Monday and Friday mornings at 10:00 am. This group is more for beginners and learning players. We also play on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 6:30 pm. All levels come out in the evening play and we have between 4 and 18 folks playing. Church members and community friends. If you have any questions, please call the church or come to one of the times we play and watch or cheer for those playing. It is so much fun.
An awesome VBS called Cave Quest is being planned through our missional network and will be held over at Memorial UMC in Thomasville July 18-23, 6:00-9:00 pm. Volunteers are needed! There has been some difficulty signing up through the website, so if you are willing to help, please let Tina Cecil or Pastor Anne know of your interest and we will turn your name in and make sure you are updated with plans.

Revival: Faith as Wesley Lived It
MONDAY NIGHTS 7:00 pm Beginning October 5th
What others are saying about Revival:
“This is a gracious gift that we will benefit from reading. The commentary is written by a superb preacher who has a pastor’s heart and knows how to make the past come alive to strengthen our own experience. Prepare to be transformed.”
Richard P. Heitzenrater, William Kellon Quick Professor Emeritus of Church History and Wesley Studies at Duke Divinity School
“Adam Hamilton connects John Wesley’s contribution in 18th-century England with his legacy for 21st-century America, bringing lessons from Wesley’s life and ministry to bear on discipleship today. This is an excellent resource for personal and denominational revival.”
Scott Jones, Resident Bishop of the Great Plains area of The United Methodist Church and author of The Wesleyan Way
PLEASE LET PASTOR ANNE KNOW IF YOU WANT A BOOK (about $10, with scholarships available –don’t let $ be a barrier to participating!)
