John Wesley, founder of Methodism, once said “The World is my Parish.” This describes the multi-faceted program of missions under the guidance of the Outreach Committee. Pleasant Grove United Methodist Women, United Methodist Men, United Methodist Youth and the Children work together in many mission projects.
Some of these include:
- Operation Christmas Child: Shoeboxes filled with articles and distributed around the world under the auspices of the Samaritan Purse in Boone, N.C.
- Children’s offering from Vacation Bible School went to Missions in San Salvador, and Princeville, N.C.
- The Youth sponsors children at Christmas and contribute to the Salvation Army and many other projects in addition to contributions to Conference Youth Fund for Missions.
- The United Methodist Men participate in building and local community projects.
- The United Methodist Women show their concern to our local church, community and around the world by responding to many needs.
- A Care Ministry has been organized in our church to help new friends to become involved as disciples of Christ.
- A Prayer Ministry has been established with several groups meeting weekly to pray for a variety of needs, persons and direction.
Pleasant Grove’s motto is:
“Find a need and fill it!”
“Find a hurt and heal it!”
We try to follow Christ’s command to feed the hungry, welcome the stranger, clothe the needy, care for the sick, and visit the prisoners.
