The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose Purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church
Pleasant Grove UMW meet monthly in our homes and at the church parlor. Interesting programs are presented on current issues. Resource speakers add timely information on timely opportunity for ministry.
We are actively involved in many projects – we published a cookbook last year (2014); others help with the Special Needs Class on Sunday morning. Our main goal is reaching out to help our local community and to help the world know Jesus through us. “They will know that we are Christians by our love!” If you need a Christian Support Group, Come join us. We need you! You need us!
Some of our missions projects include: The Shoe Box Ministry, Bethlehem Center, Western N.C. Conference Building Teams, and support of the Floyd Disaster in Eastern N.C. Our local unit also visits the shut-ins, provides meals for families of deceased members. We are actively involved in all phases of our Church.
We are not just a social club or a charitable group. We are women organized for mission! We are not a group to be joined lightly where membership has no meaning. United Methodist Women is a missional unit, with responsibilities to all members in each unit and for a worldwide program of mission outreach. Our hallmarks are mission, inclusiveness, continuity from the past, flexibility to meet ever changing needs, providing leadership opportunities and financial support and a willingness to move out onto new and adventurous paths.
